Our story

We're building the finance app we always wanted.

Homwe started as a spreadsheet. Then two. Then one for the household, one for personal savings, one for joint goals. We got tired of duct-taping finance tools together and decided to build the right one.

Our mission

Money management that feels like it was built for your life.

Most personal finance apps are built for the American solo professional in their 20s. They assume you have one income, no dependents, and a willingness to connect your bank account to a startup you've never heard of.

Homwe is built for the rest of us. Households. Families. Partners splitting rent. Parents teaching kids about money. People who want clarity without surveillance.

What we believe

Four things we won't compromise on.

These aren't marketing words. They're the constraints we design inside.

Privacy by default

Your data is yours. We don't sell it, we don't share it, and we don't make money from your spending habits. The product is what you pay for that's the whole deal.

self_improvement
Calm over noise

Finance apps are loud. Badges, streaks, red numbers everywhere. Homwe is designed to inform without alarming. Quiet signals. No anxiety spirals.

home
Built for households

Money is a household conversation, not a solo sport. Most apps pretend you live alone. We're building the first app that treats the household as the unit.

handshake
Honest pricing

One price. No dark patterns. No features hidden behind a paywall you didn't notice. No annual billing that catches you off guard. What you see is what you get.

The builder

Hi, I'm Taku.

I'm a software engineer who got tired of bad financial tools. I started Homwe because every app I tried was either too complex, too American or not built for people who share their lives and their expenses with others.

Homwe is a solo project for now. That means every feature is deliberate, every decision is mine, and every line of code is something I believe in. No committee. No VC pressure. Just a product I'd actually use.

Timeline

How we got here.

Late 2025
First lines of code
Started building Homwe nights and weekends. First screen: the dashboard. First real test: tracking rent with a partner.
Early 2026
Households feature
The most-requested feature before launch. Built the shared budget system from scratch privacy-first, real-time sync.
Mid 2026
Waitlist opens
Over 1,200 people joined before a single screenshot went public. Something was clearly resonating.
